She is a past president of the Livingston Board of Realtors, having served three terms (1999, 2001, and 2015), and is the founding chairman of the organization’s Real Estate and Economic Forecast, helping shape conversations around market growth and development.
She has also been actively involved with the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors, Capital Region Builders Association, and the Livingston Economic Development Council, further solidifying her influence in both real estate and the broader community.
HER STORY - A Career That Started “By Accident”
Kayla’s path into real estate didn’t begin in a traditional way. With friends constantly searching for homes, she began referring them to her agent cousins earning weekends at their beach condo in return.
What started as a simple exchange quickly grew into something much bigger.
“I was finding so many properties for my friends that my cousins told me I needed to get my own license so I did.”
With their mentorship and an interior design background already in place, Kayla stepped into the industry with both knowledge and instinct two things that continue to define her success today.
Built From the Ground Up
As a lifelong resident of Denham Springs, Kayla’s connection to the community runs deep. Her passion for development began at an early age, watching her father turn land into opportunity.
What once felt like a hobby she observed as a child became the foundation of her career. Today, she continues to carry that vision forward transforming properties into homes and communities into lasting legacies.
Kayla credits much of her journey to the people who helped shape it, including Lawson Covington, Shelley Simmons, Alicia Levell, and Kelly Wesley.
Leadership That Extends Beyond Real Estate
Kayla’s impact goes far beyond transactions. She is a graduate of the Leadership Livingston program, a nationally modeled initiative designed to develop community leaders, and has remained deeply committed to local involvement throughout her career.
Her service includes active roles with the Pilot Club of Denham Springs, where she chaired the “Pound the Pavement” campaign helping raise funds for meaningful community projects, including the Denham Springs Kidz Korner, a playground designed for children with special needs.
She has also contributed her time and expertise to organizations such as the Council of Realtors, Certified Residential Specialists, and the Livingston Chamber of Commerce, continuously investing in both her profession and the community she calls home.
More Than an Agent. A Whole Krewe.
As the founder of Kayla & Krewe, Kayla has built one of the region’s top-performing real estate teams centered around relationships, consistency, and exceptional service.
Before founding Kayla & Krewe, Kayla managed a Coldwell Banker One office, further expanding her leadership experience and deepening her understanding of what it takes to build and guide a successful real estate operation.
Today, as the leader of Kayla & Krewe, she continues to mentor and develop a team of professionals—creating a culture centered around excellence, consistency, and client-first service.
She is the first to recognize that success is never achieved alone.
Nothing we do would be possible without the people behind the scenes. Meg keeps everything organized and running smoothly so we can focus on serving our clients at the highest level.
Together, the Krewe delivers a seamless experience from listing to closing, ensuring every detail is handled with care.
Built on Loyalty and Support
In 2006, during one of the most challenging times in her life, Kayla experienced firsthand the power of community. When her son Blake was injured overseas, fellow REALTOR® Matt Hughes stepped in managing her business and home, raising her then 17 year old daughter, Brooke, and ensuring her clients were taken care of for over four months.
“Had it not been for Matt, I don’t know where my career would have gone.”
Moments like these continue to shape Kayla’s belief that real estate is about more than transactions; it's about people showing up for each other when it matters most.
“Nothing fuels me like taking a property from an empty lot to someone’s dream home—from the raw land, to building, to buying, to closing. It’s what I love to do.”
